In the hopes of mitigating any problems that might occur with my Employer: I post it merely in appreciation of its artistic value. In no way is my posting this intended to be an endorsement, expression, encouragement, solicitation, or distribution of pornographic material, homosexual activity, or sexual assault. Copyright is held by original copyright holders and posted under Fair Use. Additionally, this post and video have been tagged with "NSFW" (Not Safe For Work, mature content) and ample warning has been provided to prevent inadvertant exposure.
Note to other readers: I apologize for the above disclaimer, but my Employer has strict policies on blogging and the issues mentioned in the disclaimer. My posting the disclaimer is not a condemation of the content or ideas expressed within the video, but merely a "cover my ass" thing. I feel silly posting that I do not endorse certain behaviors that I personally have no qualms against...particularly when I feel intolerant attitudes and policies/laws toward such to be violations of personal and civic rights and morally objectionable within itself. Nevertheless, I've gotten in trouble for things I've blogged in the past and wish to avoid future incidents.
Bluntly: I think people are too sensitive and that leads to discrimination in its own form. I posted the video for its artistic merit, and if someone can't appreciate this on that level, I really would rather not hear their whining or have them try to get me in trouble with my Employer because they find it morally objectionable. They should grow-up, open their mind, and get over themself. I have no wish to hear childish complaints or inferences. All this for a simple video...lol.
This post is uncut. It contains objectional language and mature content. Reader discretion is advise...
Why does the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) restrict cursing in english on television, but seems to allow cursing in non-english languages? I'm watching a television show, and the English equivalents of motherfucker, cunt, asshole, and fuck have been used. This is not an isolated incident -- there have been several occasions in which I've heard words that would be censored -- such as shit, cock-sucker, faggot, and phrases like "suck my dick" -- would they have been spoken in English.
Yet they don't get the ever-pervasive censorship bleep.
Let me state that I am entirely opposed to censorship, in most all forms. I find the very concept objectionable. I am not saying that I think everyone should run around saying, "Shit, piss, bitch, ass, cock, shit, cunt, shit, shit, fuck, motherfuck," all the time, as a standard form of greeting. But I do think people give too much power to a select group of words, and for no good reason. I can understand certain words (e.g. racial slurs), to an extent, but tell me where the power in words like asshole, motherfucker, or shithead come from.
So I disagree with the censorship imposed on public (network) and cable television (and not just language, but content too). But I'm not in charge, and the rules and regulations are already in place -- what's done is done, fine. I've seen countless shows with countless bleeps. In English. And in various shows, I've seen "curse words" in languages other than English spoken freely and clearly. No bleeps. Why? Is there some rule that allows non-english cursing? Is there not a single person in the FCC who knows not a single word in another language? I mean, I know plenty of people who don't speak anything other than English, but recognize curse words in foreign languages. Maybe one of them motherfuckers needs to apply for a job at the FCC.
If the requirement is imposed, it should be imposed equally. A curse word is a curse word, whether in English or not. A curse is not NOT a curse if Joe America does not understand it; the intent is the same -- fuck is fuck, even if it's chingar, fourrer, kantot, or neek. So why are non-English curse words non-bleeped? I really (fucking), honestly(fucking), truly (fucking) want to (fucking) know what the (fucking) answer (fucking) is.
Shit. But in all seriousness, if someone knows the answer, I'd love to hear it. And if you don't have an answer, speculate. Ultimately, though, I think the requirements should be removed. Most TV shows might be retarded, but I rather dislike censorship and limitations on expression...particularly when it comes to the arts (and I understand applying that term to a lot of shows on TV is really stretching the point).
And if the language in this post offends you, fuck it. I can't make everyone happy.
